Therapy in Virginia and Florida for Women and LGBTQ Individuals for Self Discovery and Life Transitions, Available Virtually
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to lose sight of who you are beneath the roles and expectations that society, family, or past experiences have placed upon you.
Many of my clients have struggled with self-doubt, confusion, or feeling disconnected from their own desires and dreams for a very long time. The journey to self-discovery begins with acknowledging these feelings and embracing the quest for authenticity.
Hi, I’m Brittany Deutch, LPC, ATR-BC, a licensed therapist who supports people on their journey to return to themselves, so that they can better show up for the people they love and care about.
You may be thinking about the need to make some big changes in your life, however even having these thoughts feel scary. Perhaps you haven’t been happy in your marriage for while now, or your job keeps you from engaging with your family in the way you would like. Maybe you have recently made the change but are thinking, “Now What?!” Together we can work on quieting the mind chatter to help return to yourself or maybe even meet yourself for the very first time.
I use a client-centered approach, recognizing that each person's journey to self-discovery is unique. I aim to provide a space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and aspirations. With self-reflection and kindness, we'll uncover the path to your true self and journey through these transitions with a newfound sense of self-assuredness.
My aim is to equip you with the tools and insights needed to embrace life's transitions as a chance for self-discovery. You'll learn to face change with resilience and self-confidence. Together, we'll embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth that feels authentic to you.
My Approach to Working with Self-Discovery and Life Transition
“How Can Talking About My Feelings Help?”
You might wonder how sitting and discussing your feelings can make a difference. You might feel that revisiting the past is unproductive and that experiencing sadness or anger only hinders your ability to live the life you want now.
Consider This:
When we continually push aside our emotions, we inadvertently stifle our ability to experience the emotions we truly desire. For instance, if we suppress anger or sadness, even when something positive happens, a sense of emptiness can persist. There's a nagging feeling of "should," as if you ought to be happier, smiling, and not still feeling low.
But here's the paradox: When we allow ourselves to sit with even the challenging emotions, or merely acknowledge them without necessarily wanting to experience them, we open the door to acknowledging the happier moments too. Instead of pushing away just one emotion, we unintentionally push everything away. By granting ourselves permission to embrace these emotions, we give ourselves the freedom to experience the full spectrum, including the joy we long for.
Furthermore, if you wish to manage your emotions more effectively, it starts with understanding the basics, learning what emotions are, and recognizing them in your life. Developing this awareness empowers you to choose how these emotions influence your life. Without this awareness, emotions tend to control us, limiting our choices and dictating our reactions.
At our practice, we can guide you in this journey of understanding, awareness, and choice. Therapy is not just about talking; it's about gaining control over your emotions, finding your power, and living life on your terms.
How I can help
Rediscovering Your Passions:
As life continues to get busier and busier, we get swept away in the daily routines. We begin to live life on autopilot, and are no longer actively engaged in creating a life we want to live. As we dive into the journey of returning to ourselves, we’ll work together to re-discover your passions, interests, and values that have been put aside due to life’s demands or past traumas. You’ll learn to reconnect with your inner knowing and cultivate a life that includes moments of joy and fulfillment.
Cultivating Confidence:
This time isn’t just about “finding yourself,” its also about building confidence to feel empowered to live the life you want to live. A life that feels real and authentic to you. Through empowering conversations, I will help you challenge some of those people- pleasing thoughts, discover your own desires, and navigate ways to communicate your wants and needs to those around you.
Creating an Authentic Life:
My goal is to support you in creating a life that you have a say in. This might involve making changes in your relationships, career, or daily routines. Together, we will develop practical strategies to help you live authentically and in alignment with your values.
-
Anxiety
Anxiety often shows up as this constant buzzing that wont go away. It’s the tightness in your chest or the racing thoughts that take you out of the present moment and into the fear of the unknown.
-
Trauma
Healing from trauma is like piecing together a shattered mirror, reflecting not just the scars but the strength that's emerged from the journey. Together, we can create a space to look at those pieces, find a clarity on how they continue to impact us, and rediscover the beauty that's always been within.
